An extended second level job, the Rebel job is for characters who have chosen to become Gunslingers and want to continue to hone their skills with firearms. They excel at ranged attacks, dealing massive amounts of Area of Effect damage, and inflicting secondary effects, such as applying and removing buffs and destroying enemies' equipment. With the increased training, Rebels also have access to a wider range of ammunition, including elemental and armor-piercing bullets.

Great Vengeance and Furious Anger

778 A.W. was, for some, a year of triumph and celebration. For others, it was the beginning of the end. That year, the Rekenber Corporation announced its newest product, the Guardian. Somewhat sentient mechanical beings, capable of protecting the innocent citizens of the world from dangers. They were capable of many impressive feats and seemed almost lifelike. For those involved with the immense project, it was to be the cornerstone of robotics and scientific advancement. For the mercenaries, though, it spelled the end of their age. For mercenaries, their livelihoods depended on being hired to defend and fight for people. They were soon to become obsolete. And in late 780 A.W., the situation took a turn for the worse when, during a training drill, one of the Guardians killed the leader of a mercenary group. Enraged by what they took as a blatant threat to their existence, the mercenaries took up arms and began fighting back against Rekenber and its mechanical menace. The Mercenary Rebellion, as it later came to be known, lasted for several months. Ultimately, however, the rebellion was crushed in 782 A.W., when nearly every last mercenary was killed by Rekenber. Nearly.

The handful of mercenaries that somehow managed to survive the slaughter went into hiding, vowing to take revenge on the corporation for killing their comrades and taking their livelihoods. Moreover, they realized that the corporation had almost complete control over the Republic of Schwarzwald, something they could not stand for nor agree with. They needed to act. And fast. However, the ragtag group of individuals had no base of operations anymore. Any places they may have gone to in the past were no longer safe to go to. If Rekenber learned they were still alive, they would likely meet the same fate as their friends. But, it seemed that luck was on the mercenaries' side. A Father of the Church of Odin, living in Einbroch to provide help to those in need, offered sanctuary to the mercenaries and his home as a base of operations for them. The mercenaries cast away their former lives and identities and the Father inducted them as members of the Church as a special branch of fighters. The former mercenaries have adapted the various teachings of the Church with their own beliefs and doctrines. They cast away maces, swords, bows, and daggers in favor of a wide arsenal of guns. Though they wear the Church's robe, the traditional white and light blues have been changed to black and deep reds. While not as fully versed in combating the Undead as other members of the Church, Rebels have found ways to infuse their bullets with Holy energy and unleash that upon the Undead. They operate in the shadows, adopting new identities and names as often as needed, never living in the same place for too long. They still have their base of operations in Einbroch, where members of the group meet regularly to exchange news, information, and contracts. Still holding true to their mercenary roots, they repay the Father's kindness by helping those in need that they come across. Their ultimate goal is to bring the Rekenber Corporation to justice and to make it pay for destroying their lives. Some even seek to destroy Rekenber entirely, to erase it from history like the corporation had intended to do to mercenaries with its Guardian.

Even though they may act like mercenaries from time to time, they are by no means the mercenaries they once were. They debated on what to call themselves for quite some time. They decided on a name that symbolized all that they were and all that they would continue to be: Rebels.
