Its expansive terrain allows for many cities, guilds, and groups to gather and flourish, and so many Jobs will find that their guild headquarters are probably located within Rune-Midgard, with some notable exceptions. The country's history is perhaps the most well-documented of any of the countries in Midgard.

Climate

With large terrain comes a wide range of climates, and Rune-Midgard certainly has a variety of climates, from deserts, to lush forests and jungles, to open plains. The center of the country is mostly temperate forests and plains. The Sograt Desert takes up most of the southern part of the country, where the city Morroc and the dimensional gorge caused by Satan Morroc. The southwest area near Umbala is a dense jungle. The southeast near Alberta and Payon features more coastal and forested regions. To the north, near Geffen, the terrain becomes more mountainous and forested. Government

Rune-Midgard has two separate systems of government: the main portion of the kingdom is ruled by the monarchy with the king ruling the land, and the outlying tribal and city nations have been unified and governed by a feudal lord who serves under the king. The king has many officials in his service, including the Royal Court and Royal Cabinet. Most of the noble families have some power within the Royal Court, though the king himself chooses who will sit in the court and cabinet. The Royal Court chooses who will succeed the throne when necessary from the most promising of the seven royal families: Gaebolg, Walter, Richard, Heine, Wigner, Lugenburg, and Nerius. There is a competition among the royal families to determine which of the heirs is most fitting to sit on the throne. Recently, the kingdom has decided that experienced adventurers should also be allowed to evaluate royal candidates and help the Royal Court determine who will succeed the throne.

Background

Long ago, the great serpent Jormungandr appeared and brought chaos and destruction to Midgard. Seven warriors, led by Tristan Gaebolg I, banded together to defeat the great beast and save Midgard. With the new-found peace, the seven warriors decided to establish the Rune-Midgard kingdom on the main content and chose Tristan Gaebolg I as the kingdom's first ruler. Each of the warriors' lineages became one of the seven royal families of the country, who would compete for the throne to Rune-Midgard, in effort to prevent corruption among the royalty.

With the crown giving its citizens quite a bit of freedom, people spread out all over Rune-Midgard, and various cultures have developed and flourished over the years. No two cities in the country are quite alike. The kingdom follows the Church of Odin as the embodiment of religion, making the Church an unofficial national religion. As a result, the royal capitol Prontera is also home to the Prontera Church and the King's Chivalry, where Priests, Knights, and Crusaders train and follow their dreams. Every year, a martial arts festival is held in honor of the patron god Odin, which has become famous over time.

Rune-Midgard has an alliance with the Republic of Schwarzwald which lies to the north. Recently, word has it that the Arunafeltz States have started training and gathering a strong army, assumedly to spread the word of Freyjanity and the worship of the goddess Freyja, though no one is quite sure of what the intention is. King Tristain has started to encourage the activities of the Knight and Wizard guilds.

Reports of the Emperium have sprung up recently, as well. It is believed that the stone only appears when the leader is going through difficult times. King Tristan is anxious and apprehensive, believing that someone may intentionally be behind these recent events, though he isn't sure who would be behind them.
